25 August 2015: RES gets the chance to meet people ring side at the Berwickshire Show

RES is main sponsor of the 2015 Berwickshire Show

RES’s Scottish Borders team recently attended the Berwickshire Country Show, which took place at Duns Castle.

As the main sponsor, RES had a stand ring side, where they took the opportunity to talk to people from the local community to tell them more about Penmanshiel Wind Farm, which is currently in construction, and to take their views on the proposed Blackrig Wind Farm.

Kirsten Sweeney, RES Community Relations Manager, said:

“RES is keen to play a proactive and positive role in the communities that we work with throughout the development, construction and operation of our projects.  Sponsoring shows like the Berwickshire Show is just one of the ways that we do this and we were thrilled to be the main sponsor for this year’s show.

“We are keen to meet as many people in the community as possible. Attending established events like this gives us a great opportunity to get to know the community and it gives the community a chance to get to know us.

“We are also delighted to support the Berwickshire Agricultural Association and the important work that it does to promote agriculture, horticulture and the countryside. Onshore wind development has become an integral part of Scotland’s rural economy and our presence at shows like this reflects the important role we play in the agricultural community.”

The team gathered a number of feedback forms and they would like to thank everyone who took the time to chat with them on the day.

As well as taking views from the community on our projects, RES also welcomed expressions of interest from potential local suppliers. This included services like construction, telecommunications, welfare facilities and maintenance, cleaning, food provision, lodging, plant hire (small and operated), waste disposal, ecological monitoring, geotechnical assessments, fuel supply and delivery, drinking water supply and delivery, fencing, forestry works and vehicle maintenance.

RES also sponsored the prize for the overall sheep champion, who also went on to win the overall show champion, ‘G1 Oraview’a Blue Faced Leicester ram shown by Sandy Ainslie of Linkshead, Cockburnspath.

RES had a great day at the event and would like to extend a congratulations and a thank you to the organisers for welcoming RES to be part of such a successful show.
